AReaderAfter a while of looking and reading about the new technologies around Flex I managed to have a very close look into LiveCycle and its services, it all seemed to have been built on top/using Flex and some similar services. Now…. I also keep thinking in PDF format, Adobe says it is the leading standard for delivering as a secure and portable document, till there is alright, but considering the fact that we should download and install a “player” or “reader” as they call that has a tremendous file size only for rendering pages! I think then it could be great to build websites on top of PDF instead of the Flash plattform, pdf now is not only a portable document, it has gone so far that it allows many exciting things
we flash developers are looking to implement, as an example, there is this company in charge of creating elevators, they look for a way to create standard documents that can be readable form almost any computer, show and interact their products with the client as he read the full documentation and features about it, they are also looking for the most secure way to deliver their documentation as well as creating it with time limit usage and also the ease of integrating to their website.

Solutions….Flex and PDF, or in other words LiveCycle but companies do not want to ”worry” about IT departaments, so LiveCycle might not be the option, Flex yep Flex is a stronger Option, but most companies dedicated to the engineer bussines work using Autodesk format and Flex nor Flash can support such feature, PDF can support all its needs at once offering the ”portable document” as this company needs it with protection and also many more……

So the question is ”Can we write pages using pdf format?” remember pdf can handle
collaboration, animations, html support (maybe not ajax) flash integration and what else is coming to pdf? i think it will pass some time till (unless me) we see sites made in PDF
